This was one of those cars I just had to have (a lot like the MGB). I should have taken a closer look at it before I bought it, but I just wanted it so badly I was willing to overlook most everything. Big mistake. Anyway, I did drive the car for a couple of years. Like most VW’s it had no heat to speak of, but it was cute. The vehicle finally met it’s demise in Lawton Michigan on a rainy night. I was unable to stop in time and ended up running into the back of a friend of mine’s car. His car only had minor damage but bondo flew everywhere from my car. On the way home that evening I got pulled over with one working light on the entire vehicle, the one remaining headlight. The officer let me go with the knowledge that I only had about 20 miles to go to get home and then I was calling to have the car junked.
